چکیده

We have been studying -decay properties of nuclei far from the -stability line with the use of the 2nd generation of the gross theory and semi-gross theory. In the 2nd generation of the gross theory, the shell effects of nuclei are included only through the -decay Q-values. On the other hand, in the case of the semi-gross theory, other various shell effects of the parent nucleus are taken into account in the model. We calculate -decay half-lives and delayed neutron emission probabilities which are important for studying the nuclear astrophysics, especially for the calculation of r-process nuclear synthesis. We also calculate -ray and -ray energies released per one β-decay for some fission product nuclei. These are necessary data in the study of reactor physics; e.g. in the summation calculation of decay heat. In this report, some results obtained by using the 2nd generation of the gross theory as well as the semi-gross theory are compared with the experimental data. It is pointed out that these experimental data are useful for examining the calculated β-decay strength function.

محاسبه و بررسی سیستماتیکی پارامتر چگالی ترازهای هسته‌ای

The knowledge of nuclear reaction rates is important for studying energy production and nucleosynthesis, especially in reactions including nuclei far from stability line, which are not accessible experimentally so far and thus it is necessary to be able to predict reaction cross sections in low excitation energies. Nuclear level density is one of the important key quantities in many nuclear phy...

بررسی چگالی ترازهای انرژی هسته‌های اگزوتیک

Nuclear level density (NLD) is one of the properties of nuclei with widespread applications in astrophysics and nuclear medicine. Since there has been little experimental and theoretical research on the study of nuclei which are far from stability line, studying NLD for these nuclei is of crucial importance. Also, as NLD is an important input for nuclear research codes, hence studying the metho...

Exploring the island of superheavy elements

Over the last thirty years, experimentalists have, so to speak, launched an expedition to explore the predicted “island of superheavy elements”—a region of increasingly stable nuclei around atomic number 114 (Fig. 1). So far they have reported, on average, the discovery of one new element every two and a half years. Now, a Russian-American collaboration headed by Yuri Oganessian at the Joint In...

Magic numbers in the neutron-rich oxygen isotopes

In this article we report on the theoretical implications for new magic nuclei that have recently been discovered in the neutron-rich oxygen isotopes (Z = 8) out to the neutron drip line at neutron number N = 16. The single-particle shell structure of nuclei provides the bridge for understanding the rich features of these mesoscopic systems in terms of the interactions between nucleons. On one ...

NUCLIDES OF ASTROPHYSICS INTEREST WITH MASS NUMBERS CLOSE TO A~80 PNPI participants of the IGISOL/JYFLTRAP collaboration

Nuclei close to the N = Z line in the region near A = 80 play a special role in nuclear astrophysics since the rapid proton (rp) capture process is passing right through them (see Fig. 1). The rp-process, a sequence of rapid proton captures and β-decays, proceeds along the N = Z line up to Ni and it can continue ending in a SnSbTe cycle either in explosive X-ray bursts or in a steady state burn...
